Let's Get to Work

So I can be of help in the broadest sense possible, I spread my abilities widely. Please review my main areas of work below, but if you have a specific project in mind that you feel may mesh well, please let me know.

NEWSLETTERS

Connect Regularly & Effectively to Retain Customers
When created with design in mind, your newsletter can be more than just a way to communicate news and information. The real success of a newsletter lies in creating a piece that has emotional appeal, is easy on the reader's eye, and contains well-written and relevant content in a scannable layout. it should train the reader to recognize you by repeating particular graphic images or fonts, and use a limited font set to create a clean and pleasant reading experience. The goal is to invite the customer, who incidentally could be reading or doing something else with his or her time, to read your information.

Try Email Marketing
Is it time to connect regularly with customers through email marketing? This method of sending newsletters saves time and money. If you need help determining an email marketing service, setting one up, or designing that first html newsletter, please contact me.

WEB CONTENT | and Sites

Dude, they're surfing the web, not fishing in it.
Web content is not like other writing. It's scannable, to the point, informational writing that convinces the reader (the one with the surf shorts) to stop for about 25 seconds on your material and understand the benefit, not necessarily the function, of your product. It also attempts to be recognized by search engines, so that your site is visited more frequently.

Your website is like a baby...
As a prior webmaster myself, getting the site up is one thing, but trying to maintain it can be the straw that breaks your back. Your site is like a newborn baby that constantly needs attention, diapering, and feeding in the way of new writing, new graphics, updates... And just like a baby, you cannot neglect these needs or it will not thrive. This is where most small businesses could probably use an extra hand, especially if you do not have funds to hire a full time webmaster.

One site does not fit all
Different users need different types of sites, from an individual, self-managed site to a Content Management System (CMS) that many users can maintain. If you need a website or don't like the look of your current one, I can help you develop a well-written, concise and professional web personality. Organization is key to gathering your information in a format that users can find quickly and easily.

COPYWRITING | Ads, Postcards, Flyers, Brochures & Marketing Materials

The Write Stuff
Copy grabs a reader's attention in order to make him or her react in some way: read something, visit something, buy something, call someone. Successful copy should be written to your intended audience and it should tell him or her what your product's benefit is, not just its features. It should be coordinated into a communication style with a wonderful color palette and quality images and graphics.

An advertisement, direct mail postcard, special event invitation, brochure, flyer, or a marketing packet would be good examples of items that use copywriting. Dedicated project management from concept to production can help get this job done on time and on or under budget.

CONSULTING

A Second Opinion Never Hurts
If you have the staff to complete your project, but are not sure how to get started or what is the most efficient way to manage the process, I can set aside time just to talk with you. If I cannot provide the necessary expertise, I may be able to connect you with someone who can.
MAGAZINES, CATALOGS, PROGRAMS, DIRECTORIES

Time the Avenger
These projects seem easy at first glance, but they have space constraints, benefit from a master document layout, and require excellent written organization and preparation. In addition to this, they typically involve a great deal of data collation— text, graphics, advertisements from sponsors — all coming together into an overall design which needs editing before publication.

One of the main constraints in producing these items is time. They tend to be created for release by a particular date, and having the skill to meet deadline is important. These pieces also benefit from someone who is familiar with the overall process to pull all the elements in at the right time and direct the effort.

TEMPLATES | To help you along

For the Do-It-Yourselfers
I'm a natural DIYer so I love to help others DIT (do it themselves.) You may just want a little help getting started with a new project by having me design a template that your staff can populate with content in the future. If we share the same software, I can do this, or you can invite me in to work on your equipment and layout a file for you. I will train your staff to use the template as well, if that is a need.
RESUMES

When Does Opportunity Strike?
Your audience is the person sitting one late afternoon with a stack of resumes before her. She takes 10-15 seconds on each resume to set the interview schedule for tomorrow, slowly narrowing down the stack of 200 to 10 of the best, most qualified candidates. Every word choice on that resume, every inflected tone, all the data organization, every subtle font selection, every grammar or spelling mistake — they all matter in that 10-15 seconds. Your resume must make it easy for her(or him) to want you in the "yes" pile. It should say something about you beyond your accomplishments and accolades, something that requires no additional words.

The value of a good resume is that it helps you get an interview. A resume writer cannot guarantee you will get the interview, but that is the goal we strive to attain. It can be a process and more than one resume style may be required.

Here are some comments from some of my previous resume clients:

Working with Michelle was awesome.  She was eager to help me put together a first-class resume. — Carmen, Systems Architect

As a former litigation attorney, I served on my firm's hiring committee.  I reviewed too many resumes to count and I can honestly say that I never saw a resume that was more professional, more informative, and a better sales pitch for it's subject than the resume which you prepared on my behalf. — C.

Michelle took my ordinary & everyday resume and turned it into an extraordinary success! Her resume design got me noticed by HR leaders, helped secure interviews and assisted me in landing a great job. Michelle is very easy to work with, prompt with feedback and open to suggestions. She was a great starting point when I wasn't sure where to begin!
Dave, Operations Manager

In my opinion, the most difficult part of the job search is to obtain an interview. In one interview, one of the interviewers commented on how my resume's appearance stood out amongst all the other documents they had reviewed. For a single job, one organization I interviewed with had over 432 applicants. I know Mrs. Zuccarelli's skills helped give me an edge over the other applicants. — R.
